U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that tariffs on Mexico and Canada, set to begin Tuesday, remain \u201cfluid\u201d and could be lower than the proposed 25%, while the additional 10% duty on Chinese imports is confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Japan\u2019s Nikkei 225 gained 1.7% to close at 37,785.47, while the Topix rose 1.77% to 2,729.56. Hong Kong\u2019s Hang Seng index climbed 0.44%, but China\u2019s CSI 300 dipped 0.04% to 3,888.47. Taiwan\u2019s Taiex fell 1.29% to 22,756.25, its lowest since February, while Australia\u2019s S&amp;P\/ASX 200 rose 0.9% to 8,245.7. China\u2019s Caixin\/S&amp;P Global manufacturing PMI stood at 50.8, exceeding forecasts, while Australia\u2019s PMI came in at 50.4, little changed from January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investors are watching Indian markets after the economy grew 6.2% year-on-year in Q3, recovering from a seven-quarter low and surpassing the revised 5.6% growth in Q2. South Korean markets were closed for a public holiday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the U.S., major indices closed higher Friday after a volatile week. The S&amp;P 500 climbed 1.59% to 5,954.50, the Dow Jones gained 1.39% to 43,840.91, and the Nasdaq advanced 1.63% to 18,847.28.
